Though my father made a few knives when I was young, it wasn't until 1996 that I became interested in knives. I worked as a welder and machinist since I graduated from high school and moved to Northwest Nebraska to open a welding a machine shop with my father. In the spring of 1996, I attended a hammer-in at Mastersmith Rick Dunkerly's show and learned how Damascus was made. Upon returning from Rick's, my father (who is also an ABS member) and I began putting together everything we needed to start making Damascus.

I concentrated heavily on forging Bowies, fighters, hunters, and art pieces. In the summer of 2003, I once again returned to Rick's show, eager to learn how to make liner locks.

I do 100% of all my own work and feel strongly about sole authorship. I strive to make each one of my knives a one-of-a-kind and produce the best knife I possible can. I pay very close attention to fit and finish and strive to the best work I can. My favorite steels are 52100, 5160, 1084,1095,15n20 and nickel.

When I'm not making knives I enjoy hunting, and spending time with my beautiful wife Dawnette and two girls Arielle, and Devin.
