Description: Bladesmith Dakota Owen is following in his father Chris Owen's footsteps. Dakota has been making knives, sharing his father's forge since he was 12 years old. He took up the hobby originally to spend time with his father doing something they both enjoy, but Dakota (who is now 20 years old and working as a machinist when not making knives) is clearly a promising maker in his own right. Finding a maker with such exceptional fit and finish at this price point is extremely rare!
Dakota began by forging out the damascus for the blade and bolsters. Using four carbon steels rather than two creates a pattern that is immediately captivating with subtle complexity. The ambidextrous damascus disc makes opening the knife a breeze.
Anodized titanium liners surround the damascus backbar. Damascus bolsters and mammoth ivory scales are precision fit. The mammoth ivory bark used on this folder is particularly dramatic -- displaying very rare blue and green tones. The action is smooth and consistent with the blade perfectly centered. Exceptional work throughout from a maker to watch!
