Description: Italian bladesmith Simone Raimondi began his journey into custom knives at the 2002 CIC show in Milan. By 2005 he had become a full time maker and in 2007 he received his master title (maestro della Corporazione) from the Corporazione Italiana Coltellinai). He is a voting member of the American Knifemakers Guild. He has received numerous awards for his work. As shown in this exquisite Nordic Hunter, Raimondi is heavily influenced by Nordic knives.
The Nordic influenced blade is a san mai constructions. A D2 carbon steel core is surrounded by 260 layers on each side composed of alternating layers of 15N20 and 1095 carbon steels. The blade is heat treated to 60 Hrc.
The handle is formed from crosscut mammoth ivory. The dark toned ivory is extremely dramatic and has a nice contrast with the ferrule. Sterling silver spacers surround a nickel silver ferrule engraved by C Cavedon.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched, hand tooled traditional Swedish leather sheath.
