Description: This exceptional puukko is the work of Jeremy Spake of Portland, Oregon. Jeremy has been making knives since 2010. His work is heavily influenced by Scandinavian knives. This Swedish style Puukko will be as comfortable on your belt out in the field as it would be in any collection!
Jeremy hand forged the Twisted W's pattern damascus blade from 15N20 and 1080 carbon steels. The dense, high contrast pattern is extremely captivating both from a distance and upon closer examination.
The handle combines layers of stacked birch bark with sections of bog oak. Bog oak is a wood that has been buried in a Nordic peat bog for hundreds or sometimes thousands of years. The extremely low oxygen conditions of the bog protect the wood from normal decay, while the underlying peat provides acidic conditions where iron salts and other minerals react with the tannins in the wood, gradually giving it a distinct dark brown to almost black color. The birch bark provides an elegant contrast to the bog oak. The handle is finished with a stain finished nickel silver bolster and endcap.
Includes a traditional Swedish single seam leather sheath made by Jeremy. The traditional swivel sheath is very comfortable and moves out of the way when sitting. The sheath was wet formed with half tanned leather, following traditional Nordic techniques.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!.
