Description: Bozeman bladesmith Maverik Murdock is clearly an up-and-coming maker to watch. This young bladesmith's attention to detail and devotion to the craft is clearly evident in this exceptional hunting knife. Murdock's knives are inspired by faith and family. His maker's mark shows his initials surrounding a stylized person in prayer. He also marks his knives with three dots, representing father, son, and holy ghost.
Maverik began by forging the blade to shape. 52100 carbon steel is considered by many knifemakers and users to be among the highest performing steels used in the knife industry. The small crystalline grain of this steel ensures a keen, long lasting edge. A hand rubbed finish lends and heirloom quality to his work. The high grind elegantly moves into a sharpened, raised clip. The flats are forge finished, bringing in a bit of brut de forge.
The contoured handle is formed from stabilized buckeye burl. The 416 stainless steel guard is meticulously fit to blade and handle. The base of the guard is mirror polished with the surface hand satin finished. The combination is quite enticing.
The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled, hand stitched leather sheath, also made by Maverik.
