Description: This is an exceptional hunter/camp knife by South African Mastersmith Keven Harvey.
The 6-1/4 inch blade was forged from 1070 carbon steel. It was forged closely to shape, ensuring a keen, long lasting edge. A differential heat treatment was created using a traditional Japanese clay zone heat treatment. The undulating heat treatment line (called a gunome hamon) shows the transition between the keen, hard cutting edge and the resilient, supportive spine.
The handle is made from mallee burl (Eucalyptus oleosa). The warm red toned wood displays a dramatic swirling figure. The handle is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip. This is a knife you won't want to put down. Both the guard and pin are made from nickel silver. A thin red fiber spacer assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched cowhide sheath with ostrich shin leather inlay.
