Description: This Kosie Steenkamp custom Majesty Flipper is a fantastic utility folder -- yet it would feel equally comfortable in most any collection. The drop point blade and ergonomic handle are perfectly designed for any task at hand.
Kosie was inspired by and introduced to knife making by his brother, Willem Steenkamp. He began making knives in 2007 and was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2009. Kosie is a stickler for detail and perfection, all these qualities and his obvious passion for this craft comes through in his work.
The drop point blade is made from N690 stainless steel with a hand rubbed satin finish. N690 is a stainless steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The blade is perfectly centered with smooth action -- easily opened with one hand using the ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The handle combines lightning strike carbon fiber with Alabama damascus bolsters. This variation of carbon fiber was originally developed for the military for fighter jets. Copper stands are woven through the carbon weave. Bronze anodized titanium liners surround a matching damascus backbar. A damascus pocket clip is mounted for right-handed, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
