Description: South African knifemaker, Jan Wahl, is a maker to watch. He became a full time knife maker in 2009 and joined the South African Knife Makers Guild in 2012. Jan has excellent attention to detail. He recently started making folders and the results have been incredible. This is his first flipper set on ball bearings. The action is silky smooth. The blade falls closed once the lock is disengaged. The blade is perfectly centered. In short, it is a spectacular knife!
The blade is formed from N690 stainless steel, created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. By differentially polishing the blade, Jan has emphasized his clean grind lines.
The blade is easily opened with one hand using the discreet and ambidextrous flipper toggle. It uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
Like the blade, the handle is constructed for strength and durability. Stacked camo G-10 scales are nicely domed to fill out the hand. The scales are set on anodized titanium liners.
Excellent work throughout!
