Description: Mastersmith Bill Burke makes knives that are as high performance as a knife can get. He is best known for his sheep horn hunting knives and chef's knives. His slip joint folders are similarly exquisite.
The complex damascus blades were hand forged from 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. They are a high contrast twisted Ws pattern.
This classic Two Blade Saddlehorn Trapper features a clip point, and a spey blade -- each measuring 2-3/4 inches. The spey blade is very useful for working with livestock and for carvers. For centuries, the clip point blade has been the main blade in more knives than not. You have only to look at these knives to know the main feature of a clip blade.
The scales are exhibition grade mammoth ivory bark. Over centuries, minerals in the soil transferred into the ancient ivory, imparting its dramatic natural color. Green tones in ivory are particularly rare and desirable. The scales are perfectly fit to damascus front and rear bolsters. The action is smooth with firm half stops.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
