Description: Bladesmith Kevin Slattery hails from Australia. I was very excited when Mastersmith Bill Burk introduced me to his work.
The 3-1/4 inch blade was closely forged to shape from Kevin's own damascus. He began with 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels, ensuring a keen, long lasting cutting edge. The blade is ground nicely thin, for precise detail work while caping game. The spine is nicely rounded for a comfortable grip.
The handle is formed from tiger myrtle wood (Nothofagus cunninghamii). Tiger myrtle, which is native to southeast Australia is a beautiful, dramatic wood that rarely makes it to this side of the pond. The wood has a nice mix of warm brown and chocolate brown striations. A bronze guard is perfectly fit to blade and handle. A thin black fiber spacer assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
The knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
