Description: Mauricio Daletzky is a bladesmith living in the picturesque town of Sauce Viejo, Argentina. He has been working as a bladesmith for over 27 years and creates some of the most dramatic, and elegant knives coming from the region. His skill and attention to detail are unrivaled.
This Mediterranean Dirk features a 13 inch long damascus blade. It was forged from Daletzky's own ladder pattern damascus, combining 1095 and 15N20 carbon steels. The pattern shows no distortion -- something that can only be accomplished by having tremendous control and skill at the forge. The blade moves into an Argentinian-influenced integral guard -- another technique that shows off Daletzky's tremendous skills. A strong distal taper ensures optimal balance.
The contoured handle is formed from presentation grade stabilized maple burl wood. The warm toned wood has tremendous figure. A front spacer is formed from .950 silver. .950 silver is also inlaid into the frame. Both were meticulously engraved. .950 silver is sometimes called the French 1st standard. Higher in silver content than Sterling silver, but lower than pure silver, .950 is 95% silver and 5 per cent copper or other metals. It is a perfect balance between oxidation resistance and strength.
This exquisite knife is accompanied by a rawhide leather sheath by Horacio Marziali.
Excellent work throughout!
