Description: Master Smith Daniel Winkler and Karen Shook work together to create knives that have a timeless beauty that will quickly become family heirlooms. Their name is well known in re-enactment circles throughout the world and movie buffs may recognize their work in films such as Last of the Mohicans. Their knives have an authenticity rarely found in other maker's work.
Over the last several years, Mastersmith Daniel Winkler has focused his attention on his Winkler II line of knives. His hand forged knives have become increasingly rare. This hand forged knife has been in a private collection and it has been meticulously cared for since it was first created. It is in new condition and by all appearances it could have been made yesterday.
The drop point blade was forged from carbon steels and has a bold twist pattern. The blade is distal tapered for optimal balance. The spine is fully hand fileworked.
The oval guard and pommel are formed from matching damascus. The stag handle has a perfect natural texture for a secure, comfortable grip.
The knife is accompanied with a sheath by Karen Shook. The frontier style sheath is formed from rawhide and latigo leather. Leather tassels and trade beads decorate the sheath. A damascus concho is set on the front of the sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
