Description: Bob Lay creates a knife with an amazing degree of craftsmanship.
Stabilized spalted alder is nicely complemented by a blond sheep horn spacer. By stabilizing the convoluted wood, Bob created a knife that will hold up well to the high demands of a hunting knife. Alternating nickel silver and black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to changes in temperature and humidity. The stainless steel guard and butt cap create a perfect balance in the hand.
The blade is made from CPM154 stainless steel that has been heat treated to Rc 58-59 for optimal edge retention and durability. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob shows off clean grind lines that are very dramatic. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. A small ricasso makes re-sharpening a breeze. The spine has been hand fileworked, providing a secure thumb purchase.
Accompanied by hand tooled sheath, Cordura storage pouch, and certificate from the maker.
