Description: Bob Lay creates a spectacular knife. His designs are well thought out and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship.
This dramatic fighter really shows off Bob Lay's knifemaking at its best. By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob creates a knife that emphasizes the precision of his work. The blade is made from premium CPM154 stainless steel that has been heat treated to Rc 59 for optimal edge retention and durability. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it!
The handle combines spalted alder wood with a muskox horn spacer. Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) is an Arctic mammal of the family Bovidae. Muskoxen primarily live in Arctic North America and Greenland, with small populations in Sweden, Siberia and Norway. The world population is estimated at between 80,000 and 125,000. Muskox boss is among the rarest handle materials used by knifemakers today. Black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The mirror polished 416 stainless steel guard and butt cap help create a perfect balance in the hand while the rare muskox horn and spalted alter handle is contoured for an amazingly comfortable feel.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
Accompanied by certificate from the maker.
