Description: Will Stelter is an up-and-coming, young bladesmith (18 years old!) from Western Washington. He began making knives in January of 2014 and has been forging since August of 2016. Even without considering his age, his skill, attention to detail, and fit are exceptional! This chef's knife shows his tremendous understanding of high performance culinary knives.
The damascus blade was forged from 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels for excellent edge retention. The spine has been nicely rounded. This provides a comfortable grip even when used for hours at a time. The finger notch cut from the choil makes choking up for accurate cuts even easier and more comfortable. The blade is convex ground for food release and razor thin for high performance. Because this knife is made from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to avoid rust.
The hidden tang handle is formed from cocobolo scales that show off both heart and sap wood. The handle is faceted to provide a comfortable grip during extended use. The knife feels exceptionally light in hand and is sure to be a joy to use.
Exceptional work throughout!
