Description: As a protégé of Roger Bergh, Swedish knifemaker Micke Andersson's work is exceptional and innovative. This exceptional pocket watch is a joint creation with Birger Jonsson, Per-Erik Bylund. This elegant timepiece brings forged damascus steels and 18kt gold to precision watch building. The skeletonized ETA 6497 Swiss movement is augmented with gold and damascus details. It features an hour, minute, and second hand with a mineral crystal back (revealing the workings) and acrylic crystal for the dial side. The advantages of acrylic is that it is more resistant to day-to-day bangs, is less likely to shatter, and is more easily polished.
The case and crown are formed from hand forged twist pattern damascus -- forged from carbon steels. The bow above the crown is sterling silver. The face combines damascus with 18kt gold inlay. The back features a triskele suspended above the watch's workings. The center of the triskele is formed from ancient woolly mammoth ivory. The heat blued gears are particularly attention grabbing. The watch face is 1-2/3 inches across (15S). The case measures 2.16 inches across.
Exceptional work throughout and clearly among the more impressive pieces to ever have been on BladeGallery.
