Description: This knife was made by Mastersmith Andrew Meers. Andrew Meers is a talented knifemaker originally from Boston, where he studied under Mastersmith JD Smith. He recently completed his stay as resident artist at Appalachian Center for Craft. The knife was completed in June of 2017, though the blade was forged just before he became a master smith in June of 2016.
This chef's knife is likely to become the primary knife used in your kitchen. The sleek blade provides finger clearance while being extremely dexterous. The nicely arced blade has a perfect shape for an efficient rocking chop. Whether chopping onions, mincing garlic, or slicing meats, this knife will be a perfect choice. It is a perfect choice as the primary knife used in the kitchen.
Andrew hand forged the blade from 1075 carbon steel. Forge finished (kurouchi) flats move into satin finished grinds. The forge finished upper section of the blade assists food to release from the side of the knife.
The handle is formed from antique acrylic that Meers carved. They are tremendously comfortable and are set on the full tang. The scales are nicely rounded for a secure, comfortable grip - they swell at the palm, move into a slimmer waist, and swell again at the end of the handle. A distal tapered blade ensures a perfect balance. This knife is so comfortable, you'll have a hard time putting it down.
Exceptional work throughout!
