Description: This Willem Steenkamp custom Friction Folder is a fantastic utility folder. The drop point blade and ergonomic handle are perfectly designed to be your go-to EDC. This knife is a lightweight, interesting little knife that is ergonomic, utilitarian, aesthetically pleasing, and solidly built. It is a knife that will give you quick function in a very non-threatening package.
Willem was accepted as a member of the Knifemakers’ Guild of Southern Africa (KGSA) in May of 2007. His attention to detail is clearly evident in his knives.
The 3 inch drop point blade is made from N690 stainless steel hardened to 59HRC. It is satin finished in the hollow grind and stonewashed on the flats. The grind lines are simply superb, since Willem did them by hand. N690 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds on to it. Increased toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
The blade is well centered and has smooth action. Because friction folders don't have a lock, they are legal in nearly all jurisdictions. The extended 'tang' at the end of the blade provides a safe thumb rest, effectively stopping the blade from closing while in use.
The handle is made from black G-10 with an orange G-10 back spacer. The handle is completed with a 550 paracord lanyard and textured brass bead.
Exceptional work throughout!
