Description: Journeyman Smith Bruce Barnett is a Western Australian knifemaker living in the hills of Perth. Bruce is one of the fine Australian makers who is drawing the attention of the knifemaking world to the wealth of knifemaking talent in his country. Bruce's attention to detail and fine design aesthetic is clearly apparent in this elegant and high performing hunting knife.
This hunter features a 4.8 inch carbon steel blade, hand forged to shape from 1084 carbon steel. A differential heat treatment ensures superior edge holding with exceptional durability.
The handle is formed from presentation grade Australian ringed gidgee wood. Gidgee is a member of the Acacia family (same family as koa). It grows in arid regions of Australia resulting in dense, hard wood like desert ironwood. The slow-growing gidgee may hang on for hundreds of years and produces one of Australia’s hardest and most durable timbers. A 416 stainless steel guard is precision fit to the blade and is followed by copper and black fiber spacers. This assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes.
Accompanied by a custom pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
