Description: According to the Nordic Prose Edda, Jörmungandr, also known as the Midgård Serpent, is one of Loki's three children. Odin took Jörmungandr and threw him into the great ocean that encircles Midgård -- the world of humans. With time, he grew so large that he was able to surround the earth and grasp his own tail and were therefor called Midgård Serpent or the World Serpent. When he lets go of his tail, Rangnarök begins and the world will end.
The serpent is a very powerful symbol in most cultures and was commonly used as decoration in old Norse and Viking arts. This pendant is made of a bronze tray and a solid silver inlay containing 13g (0.45oz) Sterling silver. The classic intertwined snake-like pattern shows the Midgård serpent grasping it's tail as it is told in the Norse mythology.
The pendant is accompanied by a luxurious gift box. A 50cm (19.68 inch) braided leather cord with antiqued sterling silver clasp is included.
