Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Micke believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Andersson is one of the few Swedish makers to make such large, impressive Bowies.
The massive blade is formed from three composite bars of damascus. The central bar is a bold twist pattern. Bars of 20C carbon steel separate the central bar from an explosion pattern edge and spine. By forging the explosion pattern from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels, Micke ensures exceptional edge holding.
The damascus guard, pommel and ferrule are all formed from damascus Micke's. Anderson engraved the handle side of the guard in an elegant basketweave pattern. The handle is formed from stabilized redwood burl. The wood has tremendous swirling figure. A central mosaic pin forms a focal point.
This bowie is accompanied by traditional Swedish sheath. The wood frame is wrapped with leather.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
