Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the Damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Micke is one of the few Swedish makers to make such large, impressive Bowies.
The massive blade is formed from three composite bars of damascus. The central bar is a spiderweb pattern with a central spider tile. Bars of 20C carbon steel separate the central bar from an explosion pattern edge and spine. By forging the firecracker pattern from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels, Micke ensures exceptional edge holding.
The damascus guard, pommel and ferrule are all forged from matching spiderweb pattern damascus. The handle is formed from stabilized oak burl. The wood has tremendous swirling grain.
This bowie is accompanied by traditional Swedish sheath. The wood frame is wrapped with leather. Showing his tremendous skill at the forge, Micke forged a damascus tip for the sheath. Very few makers would be capable of making this tip.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
