Description: Master Smith Henry Torres had the opportunity to work under renowned bladesmith Bill Burke in the spring of 2006. This allowed him to best understand Bill's techniques of heat treating and implementation, which result in a level of edge holding rarely found elsewhere. Henry heat treated this blade using the techniques developed by Mastersmith Bill Burke -- creating a differentially heat treated blade with a hard edge and softer, supportive spine. The result is exceptional.
The clip point blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel -- a steel that many knifemakers and collectors feel to have the highest performance found anywhere. The blade is hand satin finished for an heirloom quality. A differential heat treatment combines strength and durability with a keen, long lasting edge.
A 416 stainless steel guard meets perfectly with the sculpted African blackwood handle. A hand fileworked copper spacer is surrounded by black fiber spacers. This assists the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The blackwood has been carved for a particularly comfortable grip -- swelling at the palm, moving into a thinner waist, and swelling again at the end of the handle.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath.
Excellent fit and finish throughout.
