Description: Journeyman Smith Josh Fisher creates an amazing knife -- one that many mastersmiths would look at enviously!
The 4-1/2 inch clip point blade was forged using a traditional Japanese technique called san mai (three layers). A 1095 carbon steel core was forge welded between layers of 416 stainless steel. The result is a knife that has the performance of a carbon steel edge with the easier care of carbon steel sides. The long swedge is unsharpened. The blade has as keen razor edge.
The handle is formed from black palm wood. The stabilized wood shows off the classic lines of palm wood with the 'stippled' figure at the end of the pommel. The handle is nicely carved for a comfortable, secure grip -- swelling at the palm, moving into a slimmer waist and swelling again at the end of the handle.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather pouch style sheath.
Excellent work throughout!
