Description: Bob Lay's knives are designed and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship. This Bob Lay Personal is the perfect size for everyday carry.
The blade is made from CPM154 stainless steel that has been heat treated to Rc 58 - 59 for optimal edge retention and durability. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob shows off clean grind lines that are very dramatic. Jimping along the spine offers a secure thumb purchase. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. A small ricasso makes re-sharpening a breeze.
The handle is made from a beautiful section of kingwood that really shows off its irregular circular grain. A true rosewood, kingwood is harvested from a small tree called Dalbergia Cearensis that is restricted to a small area in Brazil. Extremely rare, kingwood was famous for being used in the finest furniture in the world during the 17th century that was often only sold to royalty.
A very rare muskox horn spacer adds excellent contrast. Muskox (Ovibos moschatus) is an Arctic mammal of the family Bovidae. Muskoxen primarily live in Arctic North America and Greenland, with small populations in Sweden, Siberia and Norway. The world population is estimated at between 80,000 and 125,000. Muskox horn is among the rarest handle materials used by knifemakers today.Black fiber spacers assist the handle to adjust to temperature and humidity changes. The stainless steel guard and butt cap create a perfect balance in the hand.
This knife is accompanied by a hand stitched leather sheath and a Cordura storage pouch. This knife will be a perfect companion for any adventure!
