Description: Roger Berg's work doesn't make it over to the US nearly as often as it used to. His work is consistently inspiring and inspired. This utility knife draws inspiration from the Sami puukko. It has been in a private collection and has been meticulously cared for. By all appearances, it could have been made by Roger yesterday. In fact, it was likely made around 2002-2003.
The blade was forged to shape from 20C and 15N20 carbon steels. A firecracker pattern edge is forge welded to a mosaic damascus spine. A central bar of nickel provides nice contrast.
The handle combines stabilized sallow root burl with a reindeer antler 'bolster' and a crosscut mammoth ivory pommel. The combined tones of the natural materials are enticing. The handle is very nicely shaped for a secure, comfortable grip. At the base, Roger created a slight choil.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Swedish leather single seam sheath. Roger's sheaths have always shown exceptional elegance.
Excellent work throughout!
