Description: French knifemaker Patrick Famin Patrick was initially inspired by Laguiole knives. After a successful career in computers, he was able to follow his passion and in 2007 interned with renowned French knifemaker Christian Avakian. Over time, he invested in the machinery and materials needed to make his own damascus and unique custom knives. Little by little, he I found his own style. He believes very strongly in sole authorship and makes everything by hand without the use of outsourcing or CNC.
The damascus blade is tremendous! Three separate bars of mosaic damascus were combined to form the highly complex pattern. The raised clip is an elegant shape and provides a perfect thumb rest. The blade has smooth action and is well centered. It can be easily opened either using the thumb stud or the flipper tail. This knife is not designed to be flicked open, but instead, the tail allows for an easy, smooth single handed open.
Mosaic damascus bolsters meet with wooly mammoth molar. The combination of the steel and mammoth molar immediately grabs attention.
The knife is accompanied by a leather bent sheath with a hand forged damascus clasp. Excellent work throughout.
