Description: The Draupner is a new knife from Finnish brothers Simon and Jakob Nylund. These guys are well known throughout Europe as first class bladesmiths and have broken into the US market over the last few years. Each Draupner is unique. This is the 11th Draupner that was made.
The modified tanto blade was forged to shape from the Nylund brothers' own damascus. The pattern is high contrast and immediately captivating. Each side of the blade is carved with a swedge along the spine.
Copper scales are set on bronze anodized titanium liners. The scales are meticulously inlaid with 'bolsters' of lightning strike carbon fiber. This variation of carbon fiber was originally developed for the military for fighter jets to redirect lightning while flying through storms. Lightning strike carbon fiber is among the hardest to find knifemaking materials. Copper stands are woven through the carbon weave, nicely complementing the copper scales. The backspacer is formed from textured titanium. Screws throughout are heat colored.
Smooth, consistent action with a perfectly centered blade. Exceptional work throughout!
