Description: Journeyman Smith Shawn Ellis lives in the Ozarks -- an area well known for hunting and fishing. After searching for a knife that would perform well -- holding a keen, long lasting edge -- Sean realized that he had to learn how to forge and create his own knives.
Shawn began this clip point hunter by hand forging the san mai blade. 1095 carbon steel is surrounded by 416 stainless steel. This not only creates a beautiful knife, but it also makes caring for it far easier. The darker blade edge has the performance brought by carbon steel, though the higher satin finished area of the blade is stainless steel.
The 416 stainless steel guard is hand satin finished and perfectly fit to handle and blade. The handle is formed from a single piece of stabilized tiger maple. The wood has tremendous figure. The handle is carved for a tremendous feel in the hand. It swells to fill the palm, moves into a slimmer waist and swells again at the end of the handle. The handle is completed with a mosaic pin.
The knife is accompanied by a pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
