Description: Mastersmith Harvey Dean's eye for design and style shine through his work. I was very excited when I heard that he had begun to make straight razors a couple years ago and even more so when I finally got to see his work. He has spent several years refining his razors -- and using them himself. He was very lucky to be able to get advice from renowned straight razor maker, Tim Zowada.
The dramatic blade was forged to shape from L6 and O1 carbon steels. The damascus blade was quarter hollow ground for a tremendously thin, high performing edge. It moves into a Spanish point. The steel was brought to 62-63 Hrc for a particularly long lasting edge. Dean's maker's mark is set on the left side of the blade.
Handle scales were made from hand selected amber India stag. A stainless steel escutcheon is inlaid into the left scale. An ebony wedge adds just the right amount of contrast.
This is an absolutely spectacular custom straight razor!
