Description: Corrie Schoeman creates some of the most dramatic knives coming out of South Africa. He has a unique and captivating sense of design that is only matched by the attention that he pays to every detail.
This Xplain is an elegant, timeless folder. Green scales are formed from constituted jade. This meets with carved, textured, and antiqued bronze bolsters. An underlay formed from black G-10 is set on hand fileworked titanium liners. The titanium backbar is inlaid with a faceted ruby and a citrine.
The blade is from made from high performing 1095 carbon steel. A traditional Japanese heat treatment method results in a soft, supportive spine with a keen, long lasting cutting edge. The undulating heat treatment line is called a hamon.
The dagger ground blade is hollow ground and sharpened to a razor sharp edge on one side. It has silky smooth action. It is easily opened using the front flipper mechanism. The blade runs on ball bearings, ensuring consistent performance across time. A citrine jewel has been inserted into both sides of the blade for an added touch of elegance.
This is a tremendous folder that will perform exceptionally well, but is sure to feel comfortable in most any collection.
