Description: Anders, who is well known for his exceptional fit and finish, has once more produced an exceptional knife. This knife draws inspiration from the Persian pieces of old. It has a swift, excellent feel in hand.
The 12-1/4 inch recurved blade was formed from 1050 carbon steel. It has been heat tempered using a traditional Japanese method that involves packing clay onto the center of the blade. The result is a temper line (called a hamon), which shows a differential hardness between cutting edge and the center of the blade -- and a very strong knife. A temper line which travels along both the spine and the cutting edge is particularly hard to accomplish, and Anders has performed this to perfection.
The handle is formed from a single piece of African blackwood. The dark toned wood has slight striations of brown and black grain. Antiqued, textured bronze fittings surround the wood handle.
The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled leather sheath and presentation stand. The presentation stand combines wood and ancient walrus ivory.
Exceptional work throughout.
