Description: Ben Shostle was one of the founders and president of the Firearms Engraving Guild of America. His skill as both a knifemaker and engraver are legendary. He passed away in 2006 and is greatly missed.
This large bowie was made by Shostle in 2000. It has been featured in Knives 2004 and was on the cover of the December 2000 issue of A.G. Russell's Cutting Edge. It has been in a private collection and is in new condition. By all appearances, Ben could have made it yesterday.
The 10-3/4 damascus blade was forged from carbon steels. Ben meticulously engraved both sides of the blade in floral scroll. The left side of the blade incorporates "SHOSTLE" into the engraving.
The stainless steel oval guard is engraved on the front, back, and around the edge. Front and rear stainless steal bolsters are dovetailed to California buckeye burl scales for a perfect fit. The front left bolster is inlaid with a golden ram.
This is Ben Shostle's renowned work at its best!
