Description: South African knifemakers André Thorburn and André van Heerden create exceptional folders at an amazingly low price. They recently decided to collaborate on knives together -- creating their A2 knives. This is one of their very rare Premium A3 knives.
The blade is perfectly centered and silky smooth -- easily opened with one hand using the discreet and ambidextrous flipper toggle. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. The A3 uses two tracks of ball bearings, rather than just one. This produces unparalleled smooth action without play -- even more so than a standard IKBS mechanism.
The clip point blade is formed from stainless damascus forged by Damasteel. The high contrast pattern is revealed in the grinds. The flats are mirror polished, nearly hiding the pattern. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
Carbon fiber scales are set on blue anodized titanium liners. The domed scales as well as jimping on the thumb ramp provide a comfortable, secure grip. The ultra-light titanium pocket clip is mounted for right handed, tip-up carry.
The knife is accompanied by a hinged storage case with custom interior (made in the USA!)
Exceptional fit throughout.
