Description: Bob Lay's designs are well thought through and show an amazing degree of craftsmanship. This Bob Lay knife is an impressive bowie that is sure to feel right at home in your collection!
The blade is made from CPM154 stainless steel that has been heat treated to Rc 58 - 59 for optimal edge retention and durability. This powdered metallurgical steel has a particularly small grain structure, making it take an extremely keen edge and hold it! By mirror polishing the flats of the blade and satin finishing the grinds, Bob shows off clean grind lines that are very dramatic. A long swedge travels half way up the blade.
The handle is made from mun ebony (diospyros mun)also known as moon ebony. It is a rare species from Southeast Asia and is one of the most stable ebonies available. This beautiful wood combines sapwood with heartwood for a tremendous mix of light and dark tones. This combination is particularly rare. A sheep horn spacer contrasts the dark figure of the wood nicely. The handle is completed with a stainless steel guard and buttcap.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched, tooled leather sheath and cordura storage pouch.
Excellent work throughout!
