Description: Mastersmith Jay Hendrickson's knives have always inspired me. There is a gentlemanly elegance to his work that matches his personality. Silver vines are inlaid into presentation grade curly maple. The antiqued wood gives an heirloom quality to this exceptional Jay Hendrickson hunter.
Jay began by forging the 5160 carbon steel blade to shape. The appleseed grind is a hallmark of Jay's hand forged knives. A clear differential heat treatment line travels along the blade, showing the transition between soft, supportive spine and the keen, hard edge steel. Jay believes in the hand forging process and it clearly shows in his work. By forging the blade to shape, Jay ensures optimal edge retention.
The handle is formed from presentation grade curly maple. Vine tendrils of fine silver are meticulously inlaid into each side surrounding three German silver pins. The shaping of the maple feels great in hand. All finishing and embellishments -- of both knives and sheaths -- are completed in Jay's shop.
This knife is accompanied by a high quality leather sheath with brown kudu leather front cover and black shark skin throat.
