Description: South African knifemaker André Thorburn creates an exceptional folder. The blade is perfectly centered. The front flipper opening is easy to use for quick deployment. This modification on a flipper opening is tremendously easy to use and does not catch when stored in the pocket. When combined with the IKBS ball bearing system, the action is exceptional! The Ikoma Korth Bearing System (IKBS) was originally designed to fit balisong knives and uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play. This is as smooth as a knife gets!
The drop point blade is formed from premium M390 powdered stainless steel for the extreme edge retention, high strength, and the toughness that a hard-use knife demands. Because of its uniform microstructure and stainless properties, M390 is often used in surgical cutting instruments and other applications that require a high finish. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge and has been satin finished in the grinds while being mirror polished on the flats.
The scales are carbon fiber that have been nicely domed and polished. Jimping on the thumb ramp provides a comfortable, secure grip. The gently rounded handle feels sturdy and fills out the hand perfectly. The engraved, stainless steel bolsters provide a steadfast grip that is also very beautiful. Belgium-born artist Julien Marchal studied engraving and gun making at Léon Mignon Liège in Belgium and now lives in South Africa. The floral scroll engraving shows his tremendous attention to detail and elegant designs. The handle is completed with blue anodized titanium liners and red fiber spacers. The pierced titanium pocket clip is mounted for tip-up carry.
