Description: Luciano Dorneles made his first knife in 1987 and began making knives professionally in 1997. Making knives initially for his own use while in the woods hunting and fishing, he gained experience in determining and understanding what a "tool knife" is, should be, and how it must perform. He was part of a select group of Brazilian Bladesmiths mentored by Mastersmith Jerry Fisk. In 2001 he founded the Brazilian Bladesmith Society, later becoming its technical director. All of Luciano’s knives are one-of-a-kind pieces known for their design, balance, choice of materials, and impeccable fit and finish.
This large bowie features a 10 inch damascus blade forged from carbon steels for high edge retention. The wolf's tooth pattern damascus is a mixture of bold and detail, such that the blade is interesting both up close and from a distance. A long, fully sharpened swedge travels about three quarters up the blade.
The handle is formed from a piece of downturned stag that is well textured for a steadfast grip. The stag is secured using hand domed stainless pins. The fit between guard, ferrule, blade, and handle is exceptionally well executed. The handle is finished with a matching damascus butt cap.
Excellent fit and finish throughout!
