Description: Mastersmith Bill Burke created this exceptional Brute de Forge knife with the idea of creating a perfect every day carry knife. Brute de Forge tests and displays a maker's skill at its best. The knife must be forged exceptionally closely to shape, rather than allowing the maker to do minimal forging and then grind for final shaping. Burke is particularly well known for his forging ability and details like a forged distal taper show the skill. The 52100 carbon steel blade was triple quenched and triple tempered for grain refinement and optimal edge holding. Many makers and collectors feel that 52100 is among the best steels available for knifemaking. A differential heat treatment ensures strength and durability.
The sheep horn handle is nicely rounded for a sure, comfortable grip. The natural texture of the sheep horn is not slippery, even when wet. The handle is completed with a forged scroll.
The knife is accompanied by a sturdy cape buffalo hide sheath.
