Description: Mastersmith Daniel Winkler created the Winkler II line in 2010. It is an alternate approach to an established tradition. Winkler Knives II is the result of processes Daniel Winkler developed over the past few years in order to provide axes and knives to teams within United States Army Special Operations and US Naval Special Warfare. Each piece in this collection bears the Winkler Knives II touchmark.
The WKII Hunting Knife combines features from two popular Winkler Knife II designs. The 5 inch blade is comparable to the WKII Belt Knife, but with the general purpose shape of the WKII Field Knife. This knife is made from 3/16" thick, 80CRV2 carbon steel. It has a deep belly for skinning. Filework along the spine provides a sure thumb purchase. A tapered tang means great balance.
Sculpted black Micarta scales provide a sure, comfortable, non-slip grip. The Caswell finish is both non-reflective and provides limited protection from rust. The ambidextrous Kydex-lined sheath can be worn vertically or horizontally with minor adjustments.
