Description: Johan Gustafsson's folders have a spirit all of their own. This gent's folder has been in a private collection and is in new condition. By all appearances it could have been made yesterday.
The blade features a very dramatic damascus pattern created by forge welding together two separate mosaic damascus bars. For incredible edge retention, Johan has used a firecracker pattern Damascus edge forged from 20C and 15N20 carbon steels for the edge bar. The top bar features a complex mosaic damascus that has been tiled together. The spine is hand fileworked in a vine pattern. The thumb stud is inset with a faceted ruby. Johan's control over colors in his blades is legendary and this knife is a great example of his work.
Front and rear bolsters are formed from gun blued mild steel. Circles of mosaic damascus are forged welded into the bolsters for a particularly dramatic appearance. The bolsters have each been dovetailed to the blacklip mother of pearl scales for a perfect fit. 18k gold plated screws are used throughout. The titanium liners have been hand fileworked and anodized to a bright electric purple. The backbar is made out of damascus. The stop point of the blade can be controlled by adjustment screw set in the backbar.
Excellent work throughout!
