Description: Mastersmith Daniel Winkler created the Winkler II line in 2010. It is an alternate approach to an established tradition. Winkler Knives II is the result of processes Daniel Winkler developed over the past few years in order to provide axes and knives to teams within United States Army Special Operations and US Naval Special Warfare. Each piece in this collection bears the Winkler Knives II touchmark.
I am very excited to display the WKII Traditions Series, which have the robustness of Daniel's Winker II line, but with the timeless elegance of his Hand Forged line.
The WKII Traditions Belt Knife is based on the standard issue model Daniel Winkler is currently providing to active duty operators within the Naval Special Warfare Unit. The blade is formed from damascus steel, forged from carbon steels. The flats are forge textured. The 3/16" thick blade provides a resilient, long lasting edge. The spine is fileworked for a secure thumb purchase and fine control while choking up.
Antiqued maple scales are set on a distal tapered full tang. The scales feature tribal markings. A distal taper to both blade and tang ensures perfect balance.
The knife is accompanied by a rawhide covered belt sheath. Tin cones, glass beads and horsehair are used as decoration.
The knife pictured is the actual knife you will receive.
