Description: Though Mastersmith Aaron Wilburn is best known for his exceptional hunters, when he puts his hand to creating a bowie, the results are especially engaging.
This 10 inch damascus blade was forged to shape from Aaron's own pattern damascus. The pattern is both bold enough to grab attention from a distance and to keep fascination when examined up close. By incorporating 320 layers of 15N20 and 52100 carbon steels, Aaron ensures optimal edge holding and beauty. The harpoon tip blade is distal tapered for a nice balance. The long harpoon tip swedge is fully sharpened.
The handle combines presentation grade ironwood with antique wrought iron and silicon bronze. The wrought iron guard is heat colored. The silicon bronze spacer has been textured. The ironwood handle has been nicely carved to swell at the palm, move into a slimmer waist and swell again at the end -- ensuring a perfect feel in the hand.
The knife is accompanied by a hand stitched sheath formed from 8-9oz leather tanned by Wickett and Craig. Aaron has made the strap detachable, allowing it to be replaced if the blade ever cuts or damages the strap.
