Description: This exceptional hunter is the creation of Mastersmith Ed Caffrey. The blade is forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel and was given a differential heat treatment. 52100 is the high performance steel made famous by Mastersmith Ed Fowler. It has a spectacular 'toothy' edge that is razor sharp and holds on to it for an amazing length of time. A distal taper results in an aggressive point and excellent balance. A clear differential heat treatment line travels along the blade showing the transition between the hard edge steel and the softer, supportive spine.
The blade meets perfectly up to the nickel silver guard. The handle has been carved from presentation grade African blackwood with a central box elder burl section. Carving and texturing at the end of the handle lends tremendous visual and tactile appeal.
The knife is accompanied by a hand tooled leather sheath. Texturing on the sheath nicely complements the work done on the handle. Exceptional fit and finish throughout!
