Description: Andre van Heerden is already well known for making impeccable knives, and so to see collaborative efforts such as this with French designer Tashi Bharucha is quite exciting! Tashi's bold, modernistic curves are readily apparent, and combined with Andre's acute attention to detail, the results are a precision made piece with artful execution! This is a more compact version of the renowned M35 Righteous Folder. The smaller size makes it a perfect knife for daily carry!
The blade is shaped from premium satin finished M390. M390 is a true 'super-steel' and ensures exceptional edge holding with durability. The knife has a swedge that runs nearly the length of the spine. A hollow grind makes for easy sharpening and shows off the clean, dramatic grind lines. Jimping on the thumb rest ensures a steadfast purchase.
The blade is easily opened with a simple flick of the wrist or using the flipper mechanism. It is perfectly centered and has silky smooth action -- caused in part by the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create impeccably smooth action with no blade play.
The handle on this dress model M44 combines blue/silver twill carbon fiber with zirconium. The combination of multi-colored carbon fiber with black (and slightly iridescent) zirconium is immediately captivating. Zirconium is a new material to the knifemaking world. It is a transitional metal that is primarily mined in South Africa and Australia. Zirconium is highly resistant to corrosion. Bold curves for finger grooves and a gentle curving back ensure a secure grip in any position, while retaining a nimbleness that makes this knife feel as though it disappears in the hand. Anodized titanium liners and a machined zirconium pocket clip round out the knife.
Exceptional fit and finish - an exciting collaboration to keep an eye out for!
