Description: Mastersmith Gary House is best known for his outstanding Damascus. His steel, which is frequently used by other high end makers on their knives, is dramatic -- showing tremendous interest in the details when viewed close at hand and having bolder patterns that draw attention from a distance.
The long, slender blade on this knife is truly exceptional! The multi-bar damascus blade was forged to shape from Gary's own mosaic damascus. It has tremendous complexity and immediately grabs attention. The clip point blade has a long swedge that brings weight out of the tip.
The oval guard is also forged from Gary's damascus -- this time a clean ladder pattern. The ancient walrus ivory handle is perhaps the highlight of the blade. It is a deeply weathered walrus tusk, with deep, yet fully stable crevases. The natural texture of the ivory is nicely combined with polished sections. The result is both engaging and very nice to hold. A black buffalo horn spacer has white striations and adds nice contrast. Exceptional work throughout!
