Description: Mastersmith Rick Dunkerley began this exquisite folder by forging out the steel for bolsters and blade. He used 1084 and 15N20 carbon steels. A faceted citrine is set into the thumb stud. The blade has silky-smooth action.
Genuine tortoise shell scales are set on 24kt gold leaf. This, in turn, is set on G10. This technique creates a very strong, stable handle with exceptional underlying detail and warmth. Tortoise shell of this quality is extremely rare! Rick recovered the tortoise shell from an antique bracelet that was over 100 years old. 15N20 carbon steel liners are meticulously hand fileworked and nitre blued. The matching damascus backbar is inlaid on the interior with Rick's maker's mark. Damascus bolsters are inlaid with a 24kt gold border. Screws throughout have been meticulously hand fileworked and nitre blued. The interior of the liners has been mirror polished.
Exceptional work throughout!
