Description: Captain Koyama's designs are truly innovative. He designs and develops his knives with unique locking mechanisms that immediately capture the imagination. This one features a mechanism called a Lock 'n Roll. The blade is opened and closed by lifting and rotating the left frame, rotating it on the main pivot. The mechanism is quite playful and true to Koyama-san's vision. The blade is nitre blued to a deep black tone that nicely shows off the stainless san mai damascus.
This knife draw's its name, O-Yoroi ('Great Armor') from the traditional armor worn by higher ranking samurai. Like its namesake, the complex scales are formed from many unique and detailed layers. Mammoth ivory scales form the center of the handle. Carbon fiber rear bolsters are inlaid with mother of pearl. The front 'bolster' combines textured, anodized titanium with damascus. The scales are set on a carbon fiber underlay and anodized, textured titanium frame. Anodized titanium backbar matches the liners. Excellent work throughout!
