Description: Garri Dadyan, born in Baku, Azerbaijan, was named a National Master Artist of the Soviet Union in 1985 for his unparalleled mastery of repousse metal work. In 1993 he became a member of the UNESCO International Federation of Artists in recognition of his superior artistry. A master metal worker, Mr. Dadyan employs the techniques of chasing, repousse, filigree and granulation, wax casting, engraving and niello with equal virtuosity. Working in solid sterling silver with precious stones, Garri brings old world mastery to the new world that few can emulate.
King's Crown is a gorgeous example of the fine craftsmanship of this maker at its best. The damascus blade was forged from carbon steels.
Painstakingly sculpted from solid sterling silver, the handle features an abundance of amazingly detailed carving and engraving. Vines, tiny flowers, and scrollwork abound on the handle, guard, and pommel. Garri used 210 grams of silver to create the handle.
The handle is completed with a detailed 'crown' at the pommel. The top of the crown features a faceted black moissanite (2.93kt) surrounded by 10 faceted 4mm garnets. The center of the handle is set with a marquise cut 16mm x 8mm amethyst. A lion's face gazes out of the ricasso on each side. The mouth is open, teeth bared in a grimace. The lionís flowing hair is meticulously carved into the silver. Each of the eyes is inlaid with 4.5mm faceted sapphires. The quillions each display a dragon's face. Each of the dragons' eyes are set with 2.5mm rubies.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout! Garri made this piece fully disassemblable for maintenance and cleaning. This piece truly deserves to be seen to be appreciated.
