Description: This handmade chef's knife was created by California bladesmith Don Carlos Andrade. Don creates knives of supreme quality with a distinctive character. His knives are hand forged to shape employing traditional blacksmithing techniques and finished with hand tools only. This high performance chef's knife is a perfect choice as a primary knife in the kitchen. The blade is well suited for slicing and copping of both vegetables and meats. The gentle arch of the cutting edge is perfect for a rocking chopping motion with plenty of finger clearance over a cutting board.
The blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel. Many knifemakers and users feel that 52100 is among the best, if not the highest performance steel currently used for making knives. It was fully hardened and triple tempered with a cryogenic finish. It will be an amazing performer.
The handle is made from African blackwood surrounded by translucent G10 ferrule. Don used mortised construction to ensure strength and durability. A pin at the end of the handle is engraved by Bill Rice of Morro Bay, CA.
This impressive knife would make a great knife for any culinary pursuit!
